Steven Guillory, Human Resources Divison Manager for safety and drug testing, was elected as the new American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Public Sector Practice Specialty Assistant Administrator.
The ASSP Public Sector Practice Specialty is the premier resource for technical safety and health knowledge regarding topics unique to the public sector, and caters to occupational safety and health professionals who work for governmental agencies and facilities at the federal, state, county, municipal and institutional levels.
Guillory has over a decade of service dedicated to occupational safety in the public sector. He has an extensive academic background and hands-on career experience enhancing safety processes to reduce the frequency and severity of workplace injuries, thereby protecting the well-being of employees and residents of Houston and saving the City of Houston money.
He also serves as the Vice-Chair for the Institute for Safety and Health Management, Advisory Board Member or the American Society of Safety Professionals Blacks in Safety Excellence Common Interest Group, Certification Board Member for the World Safety Organization, Leadership Development Committee Member for the Public Risk Management Association, and Certification Advisory Board Member for the International Public Management Association for Human Resources.
Guillory’s term as Assistant Administrator begins on July 1, 2019, and will transition into the role of Administrator in 2021.
