It’s not unusual to see considerable debris littering the sides of the interstates and freeways in Houston. Of course, state and federal highway departments are who residents would call to get those byways spruced up.
A Houston resident took time out of his day to write to the mayor’s office and express his appreciation for COH employees who help keep the city streets clean. Steve Haren of Houston wrote this:
Dear Mayor Turner,
I would like for you to be aware of the wonderful driver who performs the weekly pickup in my neighborhood.
You probably hear lots of negative comments, but today I want to express my gratitude for the people who keep our city clean. All the drivers that I have met have been kind, friendly and well spoken. They always greet me with a smile and wave. I try to return their professionalism with a bottle of water or canned soda.
If you could provide our weekly driver with a recognition of his outstanding service to the community, I would appreciate it. I believe that he deserves to have his hard work recognized in front of his peers.
Thank you for your time.
Steve Haren
