Collaborative efforts are essential in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and the City of Houston Public Works Department and the Houston Health Department are showing themselves to be the perfect teammates.
HPW Transportation team partnered with HHD on the set up of the health department’s dive through COVID vaccine clinic at Delmar Stadium. The team put out 1,300 cones, 25 barricades and four message boards on the site. This was all done to ensure there was a smooth operation.
Their efforts did not go unnoticed. Steve Stelzer, a program director for Green Building Resource Center sent the following email to HPW Public Information Officer Erin Jones:
“I just got vaccinated at Delmar Stadium today. All I can say is wow! What a queuing line for autos, and what a great job we did setting that up! I wonder how many trucks of cones TOD had to take over there. Or how many labor hours it took to set up….
Suggestion: get a drone over there to photograph that line from the air. This is taking care of Houston at a great scale for something that is vital for our community. And if some other location is even better, then do that! Or if you have a bunch of them, do them all and put out a mosaic of them. This is awesome, and the public needs to know about it!”
