Tandelyn Weaver, executive director of The Kingdom Builders' Center, wrote to Mayor Turner, to compliment Karen Franklin, community involvement coordinator for the Housing and Community Development Department in the Contract Compliance Section.

“A signature program of The Kingdom Builders’ Center is The Construction Contractors' College (CCC). For the last six years, The CCC has helped prepare small and minority business owners in construction and construction services to bid on contracts in the public and private sectors,” Weaver wrote.

“For all of those years, Karen Franklin has been significantly involved with The CCC. She has coordinated and moderated the class on the certification process and how certifications can increase business growth. As far as we know, the certification panel that Karen pulls together is the only one of its kind in scope and participation which includes representatives from major federal, state and local organizations. We know that they all say yes to Karen because of her demonstrated leadership, tireless work, excellence in delivery and sincere desire for small businesses and the City of Houston to prosper.”

“Karen has helped play a vital role in the success of our program and in the professional and personal lives of many graduates who have achieved certification and gone on to bid, win and thrive in their businesses. I hope you agree with me that she is a tremendous asset to the City of Houston.”
