The Department of Neighborhoods (DON) welcomed Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 Complete Communities University (CCU) graduates for a leadership conference.  

The conference, which occurred July 13 at the City Hall Legacy Room, focused on City and community resources and opportunities for involvement in City government affairs. 

The program featured presentations by City officials and community topic experts. The event was part of continuing education for emerging community leaders who have completed the 8-week CCU course. 

“The beauty of Complete Communities University is that we are creating ambassadors of change that will transform their neighborhoods with the knowledge they have received,” said TaKasha Francis, DON director.  “This conference provides continuing education and builds relationships to further their aims and create needed partnerships and opportunities with fellow leaders.”

First introduced by Mayor Sylvester Turner in 2018 as part of Complete Communities, DON relaunched the program in the fall of 2021, introducing a new curriculum for emerging community leaders and opening participation to residents from all Houston neighborhoods.

The next CCU session is slated for the fall.
