BCycle adds new station at 611 Walker

City of Houston employees have a new transportation option: the BCycle bikes that have become common sites in downtown and central Houston neighborhoods have come to 611 Walker.

BCycle representatives installed a bicycle station on the side of the Bob Lanier Public Works Building, alongside Louisiana Street. The station can hold more than 10 BCycle bikes at a time.

Houston BCycle, the city’s bike share program, is expanding. It currently consists of more than 100 stations and 700 bikes available to riders in Houston. The system is operated by Houston Bike Share, a local nonprofit that provides equitable access to bike share that fosters recreation, mobility and personal wellness.

The Houston Planning & Development Department oversees the bike ride share program. Funding support comes from a federal grant and local partners.
