HPWEssayAll our city's water depends on Houston’s water system. The water system includes things like pipes and treatment plants. People in Houston use about 127 gallons of water each day at home (that’s 37 gallons more than the average American). Most water at home is for drinking, bathing, washing clothes & dishes, and flushing toilets. Huge amounts of water help produce food, energy, and other products. 50% of the water that gets used outdoors goes to waste right now. Houston needs your help to save water.

All Cityof Houston 1st - 8th graders are invited to write an essay about what it would be like to be without water.

All entries must be emailed to waterworks@houstontx.gov by October 16, 2019. All essays become the property of Houston Public Works. Houston Public Works has the right to display or otherwise use the submission for future promotions.
