C.A.S.E.Y Fire Ops provides 10 scholarships to aspiring firefighters

Paying for career training will be a little easier for 10 Houston area community college students thanks to scholarships raised through the HFD C.A.S.E.Y Club and Popeye's franchises.

Each recipeint was awarded a $1,500 scholarship at a luncheon on July 28 at the HFD Val Jahnke Training Facility. Nine of the recipients are attending Houston Community College and one is attending San Jacinto College.

The C.A.S.E.Y. (Cultivate, Advise, Support, Empower, Youth) Club encourages high school sophomores, juniors and seniors to set a path to careers with the Houston Fire Department. While still in high school, students are exposed to Fire/EMT careers through participate in monthly mentoring programs and hands-on activities.

Scholarship funds are raised through donations from Houston-area Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen franchises.

C.A.S.E.Y Fire Ops is a partnership between the City of Houston Human Resources Depart., Fire Depart., Houston Independent School District and Pasadena Independent School District.  The C.A.S.E.Y Fire Ops Trailblazer Scholarship is sponsored by Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen.
