Do you know a high school student looking for a sumer internship? The Houston Public Library's Houston Metropolitan Research Center is accepting applications for its 4th Annual Student Historian Internship Program (SHIP).
Launched in 2013, this summer program exposes students to librarian and archivist activities so they can experience what working in the library science and archival field is like. Students will work in the historic Julia Ideson Building while gaining hands-on experience with archival collections, learning how to record an oral history, how to preserve materials, and how to create digital history timelines.
Students must be age 16 by June 2016 to qualify. This is a 120-hour program taking place June 13, 2016 through July 29, 2016.
Application materials are due by April 29, 2016. View the information packet and application.
