Judge Esmeralda Peña Garcia receives lifetime achievement award

Judge Esmeralda Peña Garcia, associate presiding judge of the City of Houston Municipal Courts Department, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Hispanic Professionals Organization–Houston (NHPO-H).  The award honored Judge Peña Garcia for her 30 years of Judicial Service, leadership, and community service benefitting educational scholarships and youth services. The award was presented at NHPO Houston’s 2nd Annual Women’s Empowerment Conference on July 22, 2017.

NHPO-H is a professional organization that provides career development and a Leadership Institute for its members.  It promotes professional networking, career advancement and encourages mentorship and community service.

Peña Garcia earned additional accolades over the summer. In July, she was elected president-elect of the Texas Municipal Courts Association (TMCA). TMCA represents over 1,000 Texas Municipal Judges and Court Staff members. The Mexican-American Bar Association of Texas Foundation also recognized her with the award for Outstanding Service as a Public Servant at their annual Luncheon.
