General Services Department Director C.J. Messiah, Jr., commended Pablo Cantu and his team for the work they continue to do at City Hall, City Hall Annex, Jesse H. Jones Library and Julia Ideson Building.
Cantu is a stationery engineer with the General Services Department. He and his team, Martin Contreras, Neal Nunez, and Wilbur Taylor, consistently go above and beyond the call of duty.
On the Fourth of July holiday, GSD was notified of a leak on the first floor of City Hall which was causing damage not only to the first floor but also to the basement of City Hall. Cantu and his team jumped into action and cleared the drain that was causing the leak, minimizing damage to the facility.
"Pablo has a sense of service to the City of Houston that doesn’t stop once his work day ends. After hours, he continuously monitors the weather during rain events to ensure the city’s buildings are not threatened by rising bayous, and is proactive in maintaining the city’s building systems. Pablo and his team are dedicated and customer-focused employees, they are an asset to GSD and to the citizens of Houston," Messiah said.
