Claudia Lott wrote to Mayor Sylvester Turner to say the Solid Waste Mangament Department is doing a wonderful job collecting Hurricane Harvey heavy debris.

"My family and I experienced the ravages of Tropical Storm Allison in 2001; Harvey was a lot worse, and it is difficult to really comprehend the magnitude of the task of rebuilding and restoring, along with the financial costs involved," Lott wrote. "I am impressed to see that many parts of the city have been cleaned up so quickly. I was expecting a much longer time frame for the clean up debris. In fact, I thought that your earlier targets of six months was a bit unrealistic. But now, I see that you have made great strides in just a little over two months. With the debris significantly removed, the city looks much more 'normal.' Although there is still plenty of work to be done, the next phase, rebuilding, looks much less daunting and it looks doable. Keep up the good work."
